So it's empty nest time here. So far we're
doing pretty well, although I'll admit from time to time I stand in her doorway
and just reflect on life with and without a daughter in residence. But we
spent a fabulous weekend in Boston for family weekend at Emerson. And had
a wonderful time. So I think the new life is suiting us well. And
Boston is such an amazing city. Ate at two really great restaurants, Union
Oyster House (a fav of ours) and a new place Papa Razzi (Say that together fast
and you'll get the name).
Had a wonderful trip in August to Boulder. Much
fun seeing the family. Although I missed seeing my aunt and uncle.
But all in all it was a great time. My bil and sil have a
wonderfully remodeled house and another bil and sil had us out to dinner on the
back deck of their mountain surrounded home. My idea of pure heaven.
And they just had snow in Boulder--early and quite beautiful.
Also had an amazing trip to Sante Fe. First up
though was a wonderful week in Albuquerque with my mom. And then on to
Bishop's Lodge for some much needed R&R with writer and BFF Julie Kenner.
We had so much fun. Shopped and ate 'til we dropped. And had a great
drive up to Taos as well. All in all a perfect vacation.
Fall is here in Manhattan although it was slow coming
this year. But the heat turned on today and it's 44 outside.
Football weather. Although my Longhorns aren't having the best of seasons.
My Cowboys either for that matter. And the Yankees lost. So not my
best year in sports. But there's always next year...right?

On the writing front, I've just started writing the
sixth book in my A-Tac series. Double Danger. Coming out in
January of 2013, it promises to be an event filled ride for Simon and a woman
from his past--Jillian Montgomery. Stay tuned for more.
Out on shelves now Tucker's book Deep Deception. Here's the back cover blurb:

After spending years in prison under deep cover, black ops agent Tucker
Flynn joins A-Tac, an elite
CIA unit masquerading as faculty at an Ivy League college. Nothing
can shake him-except a vulnerable young woman marked for death.
DUAL DECEPTION
When Tucker is assigned to protect-and secretly investigate-Alexis Markham, he
expects a routine mission. But this mysterious beauty has a past even darker
than his: her father created a horrifying new biochemical weapon-and was
murdered to keep it secret.
Alexis has spent the last decade racing to stay one step ahead of the shadowy
operatives who will stop at nothing to possess her father's formula. She can
trust no one, not even her handsome new bodyguard. But the heat that flares
between them is impossible to resist. Will giving in to passion bring her the
safety she's always craved, or will her love for Tucker draw him into a killer's
sights?

Also on cyber shelves now, and just in time for the
holidays--my re-released novella (Originally in the anthology Silent Night)
Still of the Night:
Christmas is coming and
Jenny Fitzgerald couldn't care less. She's getting divorced, and her life is in
tatters. And just when she's thinking it couldn't possibly be worse, her husband
is killed on the job, an undercover operation gone bad. In the midst of her
grief, Jenny is confronted with a killer. A hunter who will stop at nothing to
see her dead...

As usual totally behind on my reading. But I did
read Julia Quinn's latest. And also Tina Fey's bio, as well as a book
called Alice I have Been, an historical reimagining of the life of the real-life
Alice and her relationship with Lewis Carroll. Really good read.
In TV news, totally caught up in the new season. Besides old
favorites I'm also watching new shows, Ringer (not that good, but strangely
compelling and I love Sarah Michelle Geller), Person of Interest (show really
grows on you), and Homeland (really good new show on Showtime with Claire
Danes.) Am just now checking out Revenge and also enjoyed opening of Once
Upon a Time. Also finally caught up in real time with Criminal Minds and
How I Met Your Mother.
