JUNE 2007 NEWSLETTER

Summer seems to have arrived here earlier than usual. It's hot in Manhattan. Which for a Texas girl is not my favorite time of the year. Hopefully though this is just a warm-up (excuse the pun) and we'll soon be back to regular June temperatures. Last weekend the city was empty. Memorial Day weekend brings on a mass exodus to open summer houses and/or rentals. The Hampton Diary starts appearing in the Post and Jitney buses are suddenly everywhere.

I love staying in the city when no one is here. It's wonderfully quiet and feels almost like your own private island -- granted a rather overpopulated one but you get the drift!

On the Broadway front saw Legally Blonde and loved it. As I suspected Bend and Snap number was wonderful. But so was the rest of the show. Every bit as much fun as the movie (which I love). Saw Le Mis as well. Had seen it several times before as a touring company, but it was so much more intimate in a Manhattan theatre. And my daughter had never seen it so it was fun to go with her. Up next Dueces with Angela Landsbury. We were scheduled to have seen it already, but accidentally bought tickets the same night as my daughter's band concert -- you can imagine which took preference. Later this month off to see Steely Dan.

Hope you all have a wonderful summer!

In writing news my latest romantic suspense novel, Chain Reaction, just hit the stores.

"Romantic suspense master Davis pulls out all the stops and delivers a story filled with deceit, treachery, and danger. This is awesome stuff!" -- Jill Smith, Romantic Times, 4 1/2 stars.

Here's a teaser:

A town destroyed…
A sole survivor…
A terrible secret…

Artist Mia Kearney has the perfect life: A successful career, a home she loves, amazing friends…until her world explodes one hot August morning. Lone survivor of a nuclear accident, Mia awakens in a government facility, faced with Homeland Security agent Nicholas Price, a man who wants answers she knows she doesn’t have.

When Mia escapes, Nick has a choice to make. The CIA wants him off the case, but instinct tells him not to let Mia out of his sight.

Now the web of deceit that’s woven tightly around them is about to unravel, and someone out there won’t be satisfied until Cedar Branch’s last surviving resident is dead…

And also coming this month: Hell on Heels -- seems the devil has daughters...

MEET THE DAUGHTERS OF SATAN…

LUCIA, the eldest, Daddy’s favorite because she’s following a profession worthy of her heritage—she’s an assassin.

JEZEBEL, never a female more suitably named. Thank her half-demon blood for that—and pity the poor guy who crosses her.

LOLA, the baby of the family, so beautiful to look at. Men would do anything to have her, making it that much easier—and fun—to steal their souls.

Never has man met such a desirable challenge…

As always I never have enough time to read. But wanted to mention a few books I've read that are absolutely fabulous. Adios to my Old Life, by Caridad Ferrer is FABULOUS! I absolutely loved it. The story is set around a Latino version of American Idol. And was so much fun to read. I also enjoyed Something Blue by Emily Giffin. Looking forward to reading Baby Proof. Also read Heiress for Hire by Erin McCarthy. Lots of fun. Had me laughing out loud at times. And am currently reading Susan Wiggs Summer at Willow Lake. As always her books are lyrical and the perfect story to lose yourself in!
