On a Personal Note

Although spring is technically only a few days away, it is feeling like the heart of winter around here. Drove yesterday through a horrible snow storm, and was reminded just how much mother nature has the upper hand. But there is hope! Early bloomers winter aconite (a cute little yellow flower) and snow drop are poking their heads through the snow to greet the sun. Personally, I'm ready for a little of that myself!

The big news around here is that we're taking on a brand new adventure and leaving Manhattan for Connecticut. I know, now you're singing the theme song from Green Acres. Me too! But I think it's going to be a lot of fun. Our new house was built in 1802--when Thomas Jefferson was president--so we'll only be the newest chapter in a long history.

At the moment, everything is revolving around getting it ready to move in. Nothing too earth shattering, but we are redoing the floors, painting the inside and refurbishing the fireplace. And for this Texas girl--adding A/C. But all with an eye to maintaining the original integrity of the home. It really is a beautiful place! We've always wanted an antique home, so we're really excited. But I'm sure we'll have many challenges to share! Hopefully, the next time I write it'll be from Connecticut with a view of my new garden out the window.

Writing News

On the writing front, Escape, a new Last Chance novella, is out in e-format now. Check on Barnes and Noble and Amazon to buy.

Here's the back cover copy:

One of the most sought after forensic pathologists in the country, Tracy Braxton is at the top of her game professionally, heading up world renowned Braxton Labs. But on the relationship front, the commitment-phobic Tracy is batting zero. That is until she meets FBI agent Seth Forester.

Seth, an admitted adrenaline junkie, works on some of the FBI's most dangerous cases. And, quite frankly, he's always assumed that any woman in his life would come a distant second to his career. Until he met Tracy. But when Seth tries to take their relationship to the next level, Tracy refuses to even consider the idea, instead running for the sanctity of her lab.

Angry at himself for falling in love, Seth is determined to drown his sorrows. But the more he thinks about it, the more convinced he is that they belong together. He heads for her lab, only to find blood on the floor. And so with the clock ticking, he must racing to save the only woman he's ever loved.

What I'm Watching/Reading

Gotta say that with between reading Rita entries (I'm not allowed to share, but there were some really good ones!) and working on the house, I haven't had a lot of time to do much more than come home and collapse. I did read Roxanne St. Clare's Barefoot in the Sand and thoroughly enjoyed it. And like the rest of America I was glued to Downton Abbey. And can't wait for the return of Game of Thrones. I've got the new Julia London on my night table. And am so looking forward to the summer and Barbara Samuel's newest.
